BRENTON FOSTER ‘THE NATURE OF LIGHT’ ALBUM LAUNCH (13 MAY)

BRENTON FOSTER ‘THE NATURE OF LIGHT’ ALBUM LAUNCH (13 MAY)

STONNINGTON JAZZ FESTIVAL

The Nature of Light is inspired by the essence of colour in our everyday world; the way in which the rainbow kaleidoscopic lens through which we view our world is shaped through our emotional, linguistic and learned associations. These fundamental connections between colour perception and symbolism form at an early age and are rarely challenged. Written by pianist/composer Brenton Foster, The Nature of Light seeks to reconsider these conventional colour associations.

Showcasing beautiful musicianship and Brenton’s effortless piano style, the album strongly follows on from his celebrated debut ‘Two Cities’ (nominated for Best Jazz Album at the 2016 Age Music Victora Awards). Set in the Chapel Off Chapel Mezzanine Gallery, audiences will be surrounded by specially curated visual artworks that speak of the inspiration behind the compositions. Spaces strictly limited.

Featuring: Brenton Foster (piano), Tom Jovanovic (trumpet), Gideon Brazil (saxophone), Nick Pietsch (trombone), Marty Holoubek (bass), and Aaron McCoullough (drums).
