WE WERE THERE: PUBLIC READING (19 AUGUST)
A VERBATIM PROJECT
We Were There, offers a uniquely female perspective of HIV/AIDS. Unique because, in contrast to the existing canon of HIV/AIDS themed plays in Australia, this work specifically explores the lives and untold experiences of Australian women; the sisters, mothers, wives, friends, medical professionals, and volunteers who cared for those living with the virus, and also those women living with HIV today.
Developed from interviews collected over the past year with women from across the nation, this verbatim theatre project honours these living monuments, celebrating their efforts and sacrifices, and remembering those no longer with us. In their own down to earth and matter of fact way, these women have shared such humorous, arresting, and fantastic stories that simply must be heard to be believed.
Featuring: Geraldine Quinn, Perri Cummings, Olivia Monticciolo, and Naomi Rukavina.
We invite you to stay and share your feedback with us after the reading.
