WOMAN: MELBOURNE CABARET FESTIVAL (24-25 JUNE)
The show opens on a random, sunny day where the four famous stereotypical princesses find themselves alone without their Princes, and therefore without the stories that define them. The shocking discovery that they have no understanding whatsoever of who they are, what they feel, need, want, or believe sees them turning to the Mirror on the wall to guide them on what becomes a painful but enlightening journey of discernment and personal accountability.
(NOT THIS ONE) THIS IS A MUSICAL CABARET ABOUT THE IMPACT ‘STORIES’
HAVE ON OUR LIVES AND HOW THESE ‘STORIES’ HAVE PLACED WOMEN, IN PARTICULAR, IN A PERMANENT STATE OF FRAGILITY AND DISEMPOWERMENT. CENTURY OLD STORIES OF HER UNWORTHINESS AND CUNNING HAVE SEEN HER GIVE UP HER POWER, BEAUTY, WISDOM, AND LOVE, BELIEVING HER SALVATION WILL ARRIVE IN THE FORM OF A PERFECT, INDESTRUCTIBLE PRINCE IF SHE CAN ONLY PROVE WORTHY ENOUGH TO CATCH HIS ATTENTION.
WOMAN opens a Pandora’s Box of musical styles, provocative themes, and witty storytelling, taking the audience on a thought provoking journey of self discovery and rebirth.
