Beautiful Thing is an urban love story between two young men set on a housing estate in South-East London during the 90s. What makes this play remarkable is the sheer normality of it. Jamie starts a relationship with his classmate and neighbour, Ste and together the two boys find comedy, warmth and acceptance from Jamie’s Mum, Sandra and loud mouthed friend, Leah.
This year marks the 25th Anniversary since the play first hit the stage and whilst attitudes may have become more open, North-by-South Theatre Co. hopes to prove that Beautiful Thing remains a healthy reminder of just how simple love can be.
