by Jolyon James
Based on a true story, Robot Song is a deeply personal story. It shares an honest, intensely funny and often unconventional window into writer/director Jolyon James’ experience parenting a child on the Autism Spectrum. The show poses and attempts to answer the question, how do we support, foster and celebrate difference in our children in the face of an increasingly rigid and homogenised world?
Robot Song is a genuine family show. It is joyful and full of hope. It is for any child who has ever felt isolated, and any parent who is desperate for tools to help an isolated child. The show employs cutting edge digital technology, animatronics and a beautiful original musical score.
“It was stunning and powerful and brilliant and I couldn’t stop thinking about it after I left the theatre!” Nat Jobe
Robot Song will have a Relaxed Performance on Thu 29 July at 1pm.
A relaxed performance has been adapted in particular ways which make it more accessible for a range of potential audience members, including autistic audiences, as well as audience members with sensory sensitivities.
In a relaxed performance, the intensity of sound and lighting in the performance is reduced. The etiquette of the theatre is “relaxed” so that audience members can feel more free to move around. A relaxed pack is available which will contain certain information about the show, so that audience members can attend with a greater sense of certainty. A “chillout space” will be available for audience members who may need a break from the show.
Please contact our box office for a Relaxed Pack or for any other access requirements.
