Stonnington Jazz Festival 2018
James Morrison – a long established legend of jazz – introduces the new generation of Australian musicians. Performing with his handpicked Academy Jazz Orchestra, Morrison presents all-Australian compositions in the jazz big band tradition.
Appointed Member of the Order of Australia, ARIA Winner and inductee of the Graeme Bell Hall of Fame, Morrison has performed with artists including Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Sinatra, George Benson, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock and Whitney Houston.
In addition to his performing schedule, Morrison is a committed music educator, and his Academy of Music in Mount Gambier is regarded as one of Australia’s finest jazz schools. His orchestra musicians are currently completing their Bachelor of Music, working closely with Morrison. They are, in his words, ‘amongst the finest young musicians in the country’.
