Home Grown with the AWE – Arts Women Entertainment Alliance, presents it’s September event highlighting the power of female voices in original Australian musical theatre. Selected artists will have their work showcased with some of our country’s best performers to realise their piece as audiences gain a glimpse into their creative worlds during this special showcase event.
The AWE Alliance is a new Melbourne-based association of women who work in the arts and entertainment industry across all disciplines and funding bases with a view to increasing female-driven storytelling and artistic leadership in key creative roles and positions of influence. AWE promotes the creative, technical, production and management skills, outputs and achievements of females in Australian arts and entertainment.
Established in 2014, Home Grown’s one-of-a-kind events see the hottest talent in the Australian musical theatre industry come together with the countries most exciting writers to celebrate the new works coming from our own backyard; the Grassroots Initiative provides writers with the opportunity to have their work read for a panel of industry experts who then assist in development; and our online hub is home to the only Sheet Music store dedicated to original Australian musical theatre.
