Join City of Stonnington this NAIDOC Week to celebrate ‘50 Years of Deadly’ at this special community event.
Date 9 July
Times 1pm
Ticket prices FREE - tickets required
The event will begin with a traditional Welcome to Country facilitated by a Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elder, followed by a cultural dance from the amazing Bama Warrma and then with a musical performance from Yuggera and Ugarem Le singer/songwriter John Wayne Parsons and his band, John Wayne & The Dukes.
This year’s NAIDOC theme, ‘50 Years of Deadly’, marks a major milestone, honouring the people who built and sustained the movement over five decades. It recognises the Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression, and the communities who keep showing up, year after year.
NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate, recognise and learn about the history, culture and achievements of First Peoples.
Recognising NAIDOC Week is an important part of City of Stonnington’s Reconciliation Action Plan, which focuses on strengthening relationships between First Peoples and non-Indigenous peoples.
This is a family-friendly event. Everyone is welcome to attend.
This is a FREE community event but tickets are required.
