The Showmance Must Go On is a one act musical based in a small community theatre as they prepare for their upcoming production; a show within a show.

Starting at auditions, the creative team – Kiwa (director), Eve (choreographer) and Luca (music director) – seal their fate as they cast performers Nyx, Damon, Amber, Jake and Carlisle. With this company of eight, The Showmance Must Go On explores the incestuous nature of community theatre, and the showmances that occur, navigating passion and chaos through a self aware love letter to the art of theatre.

Building to opening night even amongst the mess of it all, the show must go on.

Presented by University of Melbourne Music Theatre Association (UMMTA) a student-run musical theatre company dedicated to creating bold, inclusive and high-quality theatre.
