Loft, 12:30pm (Group A) and 2:30pm (Group B), Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June (two performances each)

Lauren Stewart, Stephen Amos, Maddy Corbel and Isaac Stott are current students at Monash University studying the Bachelor of Music Popular Voice specialisation and they are delighted to bring you special 2 for 1 cabaret deals as their debut shows in the 2018 Melbourne Cabaret Festival.

Group A – Lauren Stewart and Stephen Amos

Two 4th year Monash students. 30 mins each. 2 shows. 1 special cabaret event.

THE PSYCH AND THE PSYCHO: CRAZY IN LOVE – Lauren Stewart
Stalking. Trespassing on Private Property, Breaking and Entering, and Distributing illicit material. Meet Lulu. Lulu is on the road to redemption after committing various felonies in the name of love. Full of denial, excuses, and a self-pity, Join Lulu as she attempts to justify her crazy obsession with her ex-boyfriend’s brother.

Featuring crazy love song mashups, 80s medleys, and angsty ballads of self-pity and loathing, this 30-minute sinking ship is undoubtedly a cautionary tale about a love that is 50 shades of unethical.

THE PSYCH AND THE PSYCHO: TED’S ex TALK: Your Brain on Rejection – Stephen Amos
It’s not easy being rejected. Once. But try 7 times in a row and you really do start to believe that it’s not them. It’s you…

Join internationally esteemed psychologist Dr. Ted in his debut scientific presentation, as he navigates an epic exploration of every mental state of the brain, post break up. With science to guide the way, the doctor will belt and riff his way towards a more confident self – ultimately one that he too can come to accept and love.

Group B – Maddy Corbel and Isaac Stott

Two 3rd year Monash students. 30 mins each. 2 shows. 1 special cabaret event.

WHAT’S WRONG WITH US: YOUR ERRONEOUS ZONES – Maddy Corbel
Maddy doesn’t have a lot of confidence. So she read a self-help book: ‘Your Erroneous Zones’, by Dr Wayne W Dyer. After coming to terms with his 80s moustache and slightly offensive advice, she decided to give it a go – this slightly silly, potentially very embarrassing idea. To stand on a stage, showcasing her ‘erroneous zones’ in public… while singing a bunch of songs… What could go wrong?

WHAT’S WRONG WITH US: ROSES IN BLOOM – Isaac Stott
In the wake of the 2017 same-sex marriage postal vote, one student stands in the middle of the needless struggle between the church and the LGBT community. From the moment where you know that you’re not alone in the universe to the moment where you realise you won’t be alone for the rest of your life, this story shows the parallels between two very different groups of people.
